The Magic of Music
The night before my senior recital in college, I was practicing my violin in the chapel where the recital would be held the following day. My friend stopped by the chapel to say hello and I played my most difficult performance piece for her. When I finished playing, I realized she was crying. That SHOCKED me! It was then that I realized that though I had known her for five years and she had heard me play little things on my violin, she had never heard or seen me truly perform at the height of my ability. Her reaction reminded me that I had a lot to be proud of.
Some of us are lucky enough to have our homes teeming with live music. I myself have been playing the violin for 23 years. After spending countless hours practicing, performing and teaching. I often have to be reminded of how magical music is. Sometimes I am reminded when I start teaching a new student and they look at me with wonder and excitement in their eyes. Other times I am reminded when I perform at a wedding and the guests are overwhelmed with the beauty of the moment being enhanced by the beauty of my music.
May this be your reminder that music is powerful. And with great power comes great responsibility. Music was meant to be shared and experienced together.
